Spoofed! Anna Wintour as Lebron

Anna Wintour cartoon spoof on the cover of the NY Observer
Spoofed! Anna Wintour as LebronWhen The New York Observer parodied the April cover of Vogue with a cartoon of an open-mouthed Anna Wintour bouncing a basketball as Advance Magazine chairman S.I. Newhouse Jr. hugs her, chuckles from cubicles were heard all over Midtown — including 4 Times Square. Now it appears André Leon Talley will own the last laugh: Observer owner Jared Kushner bought the original artwork from the illustrator, Victor Juhasz, for the Vogue editor at large. At least seven people placed serious bids — two of which were from within Condé Nast, including Talley and another mysterious bidder whose identity couldn’t be learned. In the past, original art commissioned for the Observer has said to have been sold for anywhere between $1,000 and $10,000. According to sources close to the weekly, Juhasz’s piece went for a price in the middle of that range. No word on whether the piece will hang in Talley’s office at Vogue — on display for Wintour and other staffers to view — or in his Hastings home. [source]
Vogue Italia Goes Dark

Fashionista is floating an almost-probably-true rumor that Steven Meisel just shot an issue of Italian Vogue using all black models. So…Vogue Italia will look like any other month at ESSENCE?
So who’s in the issue? Here are my obvious, crazy-if-they-didn’t guesses: Chanel Iman, Jordan Dunn, Liya Kebede. And my hopeful, fingers-crossed wishes: Wakeema Hollis, Kinée Diouf, Georgie Baddiel, and Ajuma Nasenyana.
I don’t care who’s on the cover, I’m just glad all of these girls are getting some work and thrilled that someone recognizes the need for more diverse models in the pages of major fashion magazines.

Gwyneth Paltrow racks up her 6th cover for Vogue magazine. The actress was shot by Mario Testino and wears an Oscar de la Renta dress from the Pre-Fall 2008 collection.
Inside the mag, she looks cool and futuristic in a robotic-themed editorial that ties in with her upcoming movie Iron Man.
The editorial is nice, but I’m not a fan of this cover at all. For God’s sake…bring back the MODELS! The only good thing about this cover is that now the Lebron/Gisele cover won’t be on the stands. So at least there’s that.

On the other hand…the same issue has a F-I-E-R-C-E editorial featuring Coco Rocha styled as a variety of super she-roes. See Coco Rocha as Catwoman after the jump.

The April issue of Vogue is out and has baller LeBron James sharing the cover with catwalker Gisele Bundchen. Inside, the annual “shape” issue also features other athlete/model pairings including Olympic gold medalist swimmer Michael Phelps with Caroline Trentini, snowboarder Shaun White with Daria Werbowy and speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno with Doutzen Kroes.
Lebron James is only the third man to grace the cover of American Vogue, joining Richard Gere and George Clooney who also shared the cover with Gisele in 2000.
I like the cover, but I wish they would have made him look more dapper instead of going the scary savage in basketball clothes route. It’s a swing and a miss for me. Oh Vogue.
