Do Grownups Get to Wear Easter Dresses?

One-shoulder brocade dress from Tracy Reese PlentyI still remember my first Easter dress. It was yellow with scalloped edges and I had frilly white socks and brand new patent leather shoes. Someone should have known right then that they were creating a fashion addict.

I’ve since grown out of the frilly sock phase and I haven’t had an Easter Dress since I was about 12.

But what exactly is the cut-off age for Easter dresses?

If fully grown fashionistas are allowed an Easter dress, I’ll choose this peachy one-shoulder brocade dress from Tracy Reese Plenty ($198).

The shoulder-baring dress is demure yet sweet and lets you get to show off just a little bit of skin for spring. I think the peachy color works with a lot of different skin types, but the bow is the best part. So flirty!

Pair it with sexy slingback sandals and you’ll be hunting for more than just Easter eggs.

For posh girls in colder climes, it’s almost time to hang up your sandals and bring out the closed-toe shoes for fall and winter. There are so many crave-worthy booties, oxfords, and Mary Janes, but what about a more flirty shoe? These Tracy Reese El Abrazo pumps straddle the line between flats and skyscraper stilettos with a cute kitten heel. The brown and white silk twill pattern is topped off with a bright red bow and sexed-up with curvy side-cuts that show a hint of arch and just a hint of toe cleavage in the front. Let them peek out from under a pair of wide-leg trousers or try them with a full circle skirt and opaque tights. The shoes are now on sale and down to $199.99 from $335.

Mazel Tov! Tracy Reese celebrated her 10th anniversary milestone collection by giving us more of the flirty femme looks we love.

Tracy Reese is one of my all time favorite designers. I like to call her dresses “brunch dresses” because they’re exactly what you want to pull out of your closet and wear to a Sunday morning brunch date. Her clothes are transformative and can take you from “oh my damn!” to glam in an instant. They make you look pretty and pulled together with minimal effort.

The Tracy Reese collection for Spring 2008 was all about bright, happy dressing — bold colors, eye-catching prints, and sweeping lines. Models wore clothes were soaked in color from a belted lavender dress to a beachy marigold shift and tapering off to crisp, white palazzo pants. She sent wide-brimmed hats and parasols down the catwalk as if we were under the French Riviera sun. One word – drama.

Apparently I’m not the only one all caught up in the cult of Tracy Reese. The crowd read like a who’s who and included industry notables like Andre Leon Talley, Bethann Hardison, Tim Gunn, Veronica Webb and “noted fashion photographer” Nigel Barker.
