Stella McCartney Online Store is Open

Stella McCartney opens online retail store

Stella McCartney has finally gotten on the e-tail bandwagon with an online store where you can shop her collection. For now, the store only serves US shoppers, but will soon expand to include the UK. Some of the crave-worthy finds that you’ll see on the site? Her ethnic vibing beaded platform sandal (available on pre-order) and a few of her great spring floral dresses.

My reactions to Stella McCartney’s shows are always a “oooh, cute” or a “oh, that’s nice” — not like the full-on lust I reserve for other designers. This season, she gave us a typically wearable F/W ‘08 collection that wasn’t jaw-dropping either way, but had some great pieces that I’m sure will sell well. The camel coloured chiffon dress above was probably my favorite piece of all, although I also liked Jessica Stam’s metallic silver cocktail dress and a series of gauzy balloon dresses in dove grey and blue.

Most of all from this collection, I loved the shoes. The stilettos and boots were designed with platforms so precarious that one model walked down the catwalk with her shoes in her hand. Comfort be damned, I want them anyway.

Stella McCartney Runway Spring 2008

Stella McCartney Spring 2008

What were the girls wearing at Stella McCartney? Smiles. It’s true, Stella’s girls sported the biggest grins of any runway show this season. And why not? With a new organic skincare line released earlier this year and an audience that included Kanye West and Lily Allen, everything seems to be coming up roses for McCartney.

Sunny dispositions were a perfect match for McCartney’s breezy dresses and floral prints. Flower power skirts peeked out from under a short belted trench and a tailored white blazer. Airy white dresses seemed perfectly in place in the boudoir or on the street, but my favorite look was a strapless, off-white dress with the floral print created from subtle laser cutouts in the fabric.

Stella McCartney’s Spring 2008 collection brought out something that fashion can never have enough of – clothes that make women happy.
