Alek Wek and Iman celebrated the launch of her book Alek: From Sudanese Refugee to International Supermodel at Socialista in New York City. Alek’s autobiography is the highly anticipated (at least by me) story of her life and path from Sudanese war refugee to London shampoo girl to one of the world’s most recognizable faces. If you read the book excerpt that appeared in the August issue of Vogue magazine, you know exactly how fascinating her story is. Just the short passage I read in Vogue made me immediately go and put it on my Amazon wishlist.
