A Bathing Ape Store Opens in LA

A Bathing Ape Store Opening in LA
Pharrell Williams, Nicole Richie and Nigo at BAPE store opening in LA

Nigo and Pharrell celebrated the opening of the first West Coast BAPE boutique in West Hollywood on Wednesday night. Celebs like Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, Paula Patton and Robin Thicke, Kanye West and Takashi Murakami turned out to see the new store which featured lots of glass on the inside and a shoe-go-round that serves up sneakers like conveyor belt sushi joints in Japan.

Fashion Goes to the Opera!

The fashion set came out for a night at the opera — the opening of La Fille du RĂ©giment sponsored by none other than Yves Saint Laurent. Hollywood’s young starlets showed up wearing vintage and modern YSL, natch.

Naomi Campbell accompanied YSL designer Stefano Pilati and wore tailored ebony pantsuit with high-waisted trousers. However, my favorite look came from Diane Kruger (Wicker Park, National Treasure) whose entire look from her retro-waved blonde hair to her fuschia dress with simple fur shrug embodied old school glamour.

A Murakami Grows in Brooklyn

Murakami exhibit and Louis Vuitton boutique open at the Brooklyn MuseumThe Takashi Murakami exhibit that first opened in Los Angeles has made the trek to the East Coast and set up shop in the Brooklyn Museum. The show is a 90 piece collection of work including paintings, sculpture and an animated short.

But of course it wouldn’t be a Murakami exhibit without a little Louis Vuitton and just like the West Coast exhibit, this one will also feature an in-house Louis Vuitton boutique where fashionistas can feed their Murakami lust with a range of bags and accessories. Pricing on the arthaus swag? According to the NYT, “a leather strap for a cellphone carries a $220 price tag; handbags range from $1,310 to $2,210″. Other leather goods will also be available.

The show opens tomorrow and runs through July 5 in Brooklyn, so get out there and soak up Murakami’s Superflat vibe and score some LV while you’re there.

Hot and healthy versus hungry and Botox-y

Things I loved: Splashes of vibrant color that made Vanessa Williams’ glow in a marigold column dress and Kyra Sedgwick look fabulously toned in a strapless electric blue number that showed off her amazing arms. Marion Cotillard for reinforcing my obsession with all things French.

Things I didn’t love: Eva Longoria in too much bridal white (loved the plunging cowl back though) and this for forcing me to wonder why Clay Aiken wore a skirt to the SAG Awards.

Marc Jacobs is Anti-Cameltoe and So Are We!

Marc Jacobs as the anti-cameltoe for his holiday party

Better to be cameltoe than have it. For his Arabian Nights themed holiday party, Marc Jacobs showed up dressed as the “anti-cameltoe”. We love le Marc, but this still doesn’t trump Roberto Cavalli dressed as Kaiser Karl for Halloween.
