The British are coming and they’re bringing their sexy, slouchy, deconstructed dresses with them. Preen sent a cadre of models including Agyness Deyn and Jessica Stam down the runway in wrap dresses that are so easy they look like you just woke up from a lust-filled night with your lover and tucked and draped his luxurious sheets around your body before high-tailing it back to your place. The biggest thing to figure out with these dresses is what goes where and what doesn’t get exposed.
Amongst all the silk and satin, my favorite look was a black and white sequined party dress draped over one shoulder with a blush pink bandeau. It love this dress because it looks as if they went to the set of Dynasty, ripped out Linda Evans’ shoulder pads, nipped, tucked, draped and voilà! Everything 80’s is posh again!

The Badgley Mischka boys are red carpet kings and their Spring 2008 collection largely stuck to their strength. Serious gowns. They infused 1920’s flapper style into their lengthy looks and turned to Art Deco architecture references for gorgeous detailing. Come awards season, expect to see these looks on pretty Hollywood things like Emmy Rossum and Teri Hatcher who both graced the front row.
The designers hit a few odd notes when they mixed in everyday sportswear with these big red carpet looks. I did like the scarf-belted trench coat they sent down the runway, but then again, who doesn’t love a trench?

I love Gwen Stefani and I love L.A.M.B. Really I do. So I don’t know if it’s fashion fatigue or what, but I can only find three things I want to show you from the LAMB show.
1. Gwen Stefani and Kingston James. So FREAKING cute!

2. The Bags. Love ‘em, want the red one.

3. Chanel Iman. And look…even she’s like all like “meh”

Ah, so this is what the cool kids will be wearing next year! Rag and Bone unveiled their Spring 2008 collection to a room that included Kate Bosworth (who looked dashing with slicked back hair and a white tuxedo jacket with black piping), Amanda Peet, and singer Mya. The designers sent both men’s and women’s looks down the runway and gave the girls sexy separates you could share with your boyfriend. The women’s looks leaned heavily on mannish silhouettes and nouveau safari style in a very consistent color scheme of khaki, black, white, and grey. The fedora is definitely here to stay for Spring, paired with belted trenches and scarves tied around the neck, giving you a very “spy who shagged me” aura.
I’m really digging the updated safari suit with slim trousers and button detailing at the ankle. These could replace the Balenciaga jodhpurs as this season’s “must have” pant.

BCBG Max Azaria gave us none of the structured, tailored, and menswear-inspired looks that are currently sweeping women’s fashion. For Summer 2008, they’re bringing “pretty” back with lovely, layered party dresses. Models floated down the runway in organza and tulle in muted colors – slate grey, bronze, with the occasional occasional surprise burst of poppy or mustard. Leather wrap belts pulled the looks together and kept these flirty dresses from looking too precious. All dresses, all delicate, and I want to rock each and every one.
