Marc Jacobs Runway Spring 2008
First of all, doesn’t Marc Jacobs look amazing? Sobriety and healthy living seem to agree with him.
Now on to the show…it started late (natch) by 2 hours (ugh) and ran backwards with Marc taking his final bow first, followed by the model lineup, and then the individual model walks. Mmm’kay.
So will I be struck down by the fashion gods if I admit that I’m not really loving this collection? There are certainly some interesting pieces you can take away and mix with things you probably already have in your closet, but overall, I found it really hard to define a “look”. The most wearable thing he sent down the runway was a ruby-red sequined shift. But unlike previous years, there was never a moment where I said to myself, “I want to wear that and that, and I have to have THAT!”
Call me short-sighted, but I can’t how most of these are going to translate into everyday “cool girl on the street” clothes and I can’t help but think that Marc Jacobs has left a legion of his It girls supremely disappointed.
Le sigh.
Ah well, there’s always Marc to look forward to.
