Behati Prinsloo might not be the first face you think of when you hear the words “Namibian supermodel”, but that’s about to change now that the nineteen-year-old has been chosen as the new face of Victoria’s Secret PINK line.

Behati was discovered while on vacation in South Africa at the age of sixteen and plucked form her home country of Namibia to walk in shows from Zac Posen to Lacoste. She’s repped by Storm Models and has already done campaigns for H&M and Max Studio.

As supermodels go, Behati has quite a commercial look and doesn’t have as much fierce runway personality as a Coco Rochas or a Freja. But I’m loving that we’re going to see her amazing, wide grin all over the Victoria’s Secret runway and now all over the PINK campaigns.

These Calvin Klein Jeans commercials starring a then-fifteen-year-old Brooke Shields got her banned from CBS and made her one of the most sought-after models of the 1980’s.

Director Richard Avedon filmed the commercials that captured the coltish supermodel wriggling into a pair of jeans and seductively purring the infamous come-on, “You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing.” that catapulted her into the sex symbol stratosphere.
