Matthew Williamson’s Global Grind

Matthew Williamson @ NY Fashion Week

I loooooove Matthew Williamson!

I adore the way he uses ethnic prints and even when he had a bit of a dust-up over being a little too inspired by the Ethiopian national costume in his Spring/Summer ‘08 collection, I still loved his swag.

Well, the Matthew Williamson Fall/Winter 2010 collection just gave me more of what I love — rich color, ethnic beading, and a certain global je ne sais quoi.

High points: chunky knits, hand beading on sexy dresses and color explosions that take you from India to Africa and beyond.

Low points: not a damn thing.

Girls who love green, eco-conscious clothes are already salivating for the Rogan line for Target GO International, but unless you live in NY or LA, you’re still weeks away from getting your hands on some.

FWD broke the news that Barney’s will carry the line’s newly affordable organic cotton pieces in their Manhattan and Beverly Hills stores. The pieces will be in Barney’s stores for only five days, starting on May 8 in NY and May 15 in LA.

This is the first time Target merchandise has ever been carried in Barney’s, but the retailer has a great relationship with designer and a track record of promotion green fashion through projects like Barney’s Green and Rogan Gregory’s own Loomstate line.

See pics of the entire Rogan for Target GO International collection at Nitrolicious.

A Zulu Rose By Any Other Name…

A Zulu Rose By Any Other Name…

Zulu Rose

What would you do if you drove all the way across town and your favorite little eclectic boutique was gone? Boarded up. Closed shop. Poof. Would you drive back home and get over it?

If the store was Zulu Rose, you’d keep coming back and practically hold a candlelight vigil until they came back. The Zulu Rose online store has been launched, disappeared for a while and now relaunched, but true Zulu fashionistas never gave up the ghost.

The latest incarnation of the shop brings back the line’s funky tees as conceptualized by lead designer Alexander Derrick. His chic and modern African themes pair colorful graphic designs with high-end organic fabrics and eco-friendly textile dyes.

Very limited amount of rotating stock available online.

Get it while you still can.
