Vogue Goes to India

Vogue is the fashion bible all over the world and now they’re set to conquer India. The first issue of Vogue India has hit the stands with a fold-out cover featuring Aussie model Gemma Ward (huh?) flanked by Bollywood actresses Bipasha Basu (left) and Priyanka Chopra (right). On the fold-out, you’ll also find Preity Zinta, Monikangana Dutta and Laxmi Menon. The cover was shot by Patrick Demarchelier and styled by British Vogue’s Lucinda Chambers.
So why India? In addition to a rich culture, the country has a population of nearly 1.2 billion people and a growing upper class with money to burn. Luxury brand advertisers like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Chanel are a perfect match for the chic women in India’s developing economy.
Bollywood here we come!
